Luke 14:12-14
12 And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and that will be your repayment.
13 “But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,
14 and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for it will be repaid to you at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Our care for the poor is not a concept untouched by our Lord. He spoke often of caring for the downtrodden, the poor, those who are suffering in this life. This one speaks out so strong, specially in our wealthy age. To find someone who is unable to repay can be a challenge. It tends to put ourselves engaging with people we may find ourselves avoiding than socializing with. These are who we are to be looking out for instead. The rest of the world often overlooks those in need, we are called to be that light and to help them. A help that comes with no payment in this life but will be rewarded when the Lord returns. Let’s look for these opportunities, to shine our light and to help those who are often overlooked in this world.
