Psalm 62.5-7
Surely wait in silence for God, O my soul,
For my hope is from Him.
Surely He is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
When turmoil and hardships arise in our lives it is very easy to seek to escape. To find things that numb us and act as a distraction. Whether diving into work, entertainment, drugs, or anything that can distract us and give a sense of security (even though it is fleeting). What we should do, however, is to turn to our God and rely on Him. He is our rock, He will give us security when feeling lost or tossed about. Despite everything in us calling to escape and distract, we need to fight this urge and turn our hearts to God. Go into prayer and present our problems to God. This will help us process what is going on, rather than trying to bury them away and never address them. Let us turn to God in these troubling times, He is waiting for us.
