John 5.24
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
If a doctor told you that you were going to die if you continued your lifestyle and needed to make changes, most would be all ears listening to the advice. Or if a mechanic tells you your car is going to be totaled unless you take some specific actions to protect your car, again you’d listen to the advice and take the appropriate actions. We have been told by our King exactly what we need to do in order to live and not die: believe in his God and hear (obey) his words. Yet it is tempting to not actually hear the words of Jesus (which he said is not his but Gods; John 15.24) but think that his words don’t affect us too much. I mean, I don’t always listen and I’m still alive. Right? Wrong, if we continue to ignore our Lord’s words we remain in death which will be shown to us on judgement day. Let’s make sure we actually hear and obey Jesus’ words and believe in his God, the God and Father of us all!
