Ephesians 5.11
And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead even expose them.
Our life is to be a light to the world. To show God in our lives and promote the love and the truth that abide in Him. To the degree as a flashlight exposes what was hidden in the dark, our life will expose the sin that is around us. Rather than falling into common mantras or views that the world holds, we uphold what God says and the standard He presents. Not falling into the trap of telling ourselves “at least I don’t do ‘x’ like ‘x’ does.” If our goal is just the bare minimum of not doing what someone else does, we’ve missed the point. You don’t want to be a dimly lit bulb which is just brighter than one that is off. You want to be the 100-watt bulb that is seen all around like a beacon. Let’s work in our lives to live as that light and encourage others to live as God has called.
