Ecclesiastes 5.2

Do not be hasty with your mouth or impulsive in your heart to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven but you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.

In our day where we are blessed with a high priest on the right hand of our God, who intercedes on our behalf, while we are open to pray and ask of God in Jesus’ name anywhere at anytime, we can sometimes forget the wise words of Solomon. Are we giving the honor and glory to our God and Father when we pray? Are we putting prayer in its rightful place as a means to commune with the Creator of the world? Can we find ourselves speaking words not thought through due to ignorance or rushing our speech to God? As much of a blessing it is we don’t have a temple to go to in order to commune with God, it can be a problem if we aren’t holding speaking to God in its rightful place. Let’s raise our voice to God with meekness and fear and not in haste or ignorance!
