James 4.7
Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
How often do we find ourselves surrounded by the works of the devil? When those of the world reject God and fully take on self deification, immoral works will arise all around. It can be hard to navigate these moments. In a world so darkened, we have to be the light to help others; yet, we have to make sure we aren’t being snuffed out by being seen as participating in ungodly acts. So what do we do? We lean and subject ourselves to our God and Father. Through His strengthening we can overcome the darkness and be a light. Sometimes the best light is to leave the group and show your stance against the acts around you. Sometimes it’s expressing the vexation you feel when people go against God. Let God guide through His word, through prayer and meditation, and through the wonderful example of His son Jesus, to how we are to respond. But what always stays the same every time is our subjection to God because then the devil will flee.
