Romans 5.6-8
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man, though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The trope of someone sacrificing themselves to save a life is well played out in movies and shows. Often it’s for a child, friend, or loved one. The world understands sacrifice and giving yourself up for someone else that you love. Yet how often does it show this sacrifice for someone that is at complete odds with them to a hostile extent. The world is at war with God. Whether it’s denying Him, replacing Him, or hating Him; the world does its best at rejecting their Creator. And it is this environment that God still set a plan in action to reconcile everyone back to Him. Despite the death and destruction we have earned with our actions, God allowed the sinless man Jesus to take on that debt. How glorious is our God! And how wonderful is our brother Jesus! When given the option to take the blame and punishment for something you did not do, would you accept? We fight tooth and nail when we feel wronged when given a punishment that someone else deserved. Now think of Jesus and his love for God and for his fellow man. Let’s keep that heart in us as we go into the world, hopefully shining the light our great brother Jesus has shown. All to the glory of God!
