Romans 7.24,25
24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?
25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
‘Wretched man that I am’, what a concise explanation of us all. Despite our mental determination and conviction to serve our God, we find ourselves serving our flesh time and time again. Who will save us from this? How can we ever be saved when we turn from our God? This state of ours shows just how wonderful and loving our great and mighty God and the love of our brother and Lord Jesus Christ is. Despite us being in a state of death and sin, God has brought Jesus to redeem us back to Him. When left to ourselves, we would only further separate from God; but, with God’s plan and with Jesus’ obedience, we have salvation. When we find ourselves in sin, despite the shame, anger, and sadness that is in us due to our failures, we can take heart that God will deliver us if we turn to Him. By coming under the sacrifice of Jesus, we can be brought back to God and be His child. How great is our God!
