June 7th, 2025: Matthew 22.11,12

“But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes, and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless.
— Matthew 22:11-12

In the parable of the wedding feast, Jesus describes a scene where those who were initially invited to the wedding rejected it, so in turn, they were rejected. So the call to the feast was echoed out to all who would listen. Within those who heard and came is the man without wedding clothes. A simple faux pas in our current day, but in the symbolism of the parable, a crucial overlook. This man was taken and cast out of the feast. Why? What would the wedding clothes symbolize, and how can we be sure we are equipped with them? To be clothed for the wedding would mean you prepared yourself. You saw the occasion, took the necessary steps to acquire those clothes, and then wore them to the feast. In our walk with God, He is calling for us to put on His spirit, His mindset, and love so that we can be as He is. That is why Jesus is so important. Jesus showed how a human can really live to the standards of God, and we can mimic that by living as he did. We have to see what God is asking of us, put that on, and be ready to enter into that feast. So, are you wearing your wedding clothes?
