And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light lest his deeds be exposed.
— John 3:19-20
Have you ever been in a Bible study and gotten an uneasy feeling while someone talks about God? Specifically when talking about what God wants for us and behaviors we are to do or not do. This is good! It is our conscience working to tell us we may be guilty of what is being discussed. That sense of guilt or shame as we realize what we’ve done wrong or what we should do is the Light of God shining on our lives. It’s at that moment when we have to decide: are we going to let the light shine or are we going to retreat into the dark? Do we love darkness that “hides” our evil or will we let God and Christ shine on our evil so we can change? We have to make this choice daily as we further our knowledge and relationship with God. Hopefully we choose to draw to the light and leave the darkness behind.
